April 2023, Maidstone, Kent: The local community in Fant came together in support of a local fundraising effort for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) last weekend, organised by local campaigner Moya Sparrowhawk and supported by BHF fundraising manager for Kent, Lauren Hearnden.
Fant community hall was bustling with people enjoying afternoon tea and cakes, and shopping around the BHF stalls and many other craft offerings including home baking, preserves and pickles, cards and candles, horticulture and more.
Local MP Helen Grant was there to share in the fun and lend her support. She said “I met Moya in 2014 when I attended her strawberry tea in aid of Breast Cancer Care at the Fant Community Hall. She has organised many events since that time and she gives, and keeps on giving, to her local community and to the causes she supports. Moya has my utmost admiration, and I will continue to support her in every way I can”.
Moya Sparrowhawk said “Helen Grant has been attending my Charity Events for years. She has always been helpful and offered her support!”
Lauren Hearnden from the BHF said: “Moya has supported the BHF over many years and I would like to thank her for all her dedication and commitment. We will use the money she’s helped to raise to further the BHF’s lifesaving work. For more than 60 years, our research has turned ideas that once seemed like 'science fiction' into treatments and cures that save lives every day. But millions of people are still waiting for the next breakthrough. It is only through the efforts of people like Moya that we can keep our research going and discover the treatments and cures of the future.”
The fayre raised £880 for the BHF. Further donations can be made here: https://www.bhf.org.uk/how-you-can-help/donate/your-donation/get-started
