Every day, on average, 600 patients enter the doors of the two NHS hospitals serving my fabulous constituency of Maidstone & The Weald.  Be it a life-threatening accident or simple indigestion, and everything in-between, almost all patients arrive at the two A & E departments in Pembury a

The past two years have reinforced, more than ever, how much we as a country value the NHS as a centrepiece of our society.

The NHS in Kent and Medway is urging those eligible for a Covid-19 vaccination to book while supplies are plentiful during the next week.

The best way to beat this virus, once and for all, is through the widespread vaccination of our population. I am therefore hugely encouraged by the speed at which the vaccine is being rolled out across Maidstone and The Weald; providing hope to our community after such a difficult year.

Kent, controversially, entered Tier 3 restrictions after the November national lockdown, but sadly the latest figures and trends are vindicating that course of action.

In the face of huge challenges presented by Covid-19, the resilience of our communities in Maidstone & The Weald has been absolutely inspiring. I am sure that same community spirit will help control the resurgence of the virus we are experiencing across the UK and, indeed, much of Europe.

Being prevented from visiting those we love in hospital has been one of the cruellest aspects of the Coronavirus pandemic.   It was a completely understandable measure, to help contain the virus, but so hard for families and patients, be they Covid or Non-Covid.
