Maidstone, Kent, 27 March 2024: Local leaders attended an audience with The Archbishop of Canterbury in The Great Hall at the Bishops Palace in Maidstone yesterday. Organised by Maidstone Borough Council and The Mayor’s office, the event was themed on Collaboration for Community Regeneration & Growth.
This event brought together church leaders, town centre organisations and other stakeholders to further develop an inclusive and sustainable pathway towards regeneration and growth in Maidstone and the surrounding area.
Helen Grant MP, The Mayor of Maidstone, the Area Dean, Gareth Dickinson, and the Chairman of the One Maidstone Business Improvement District were all in attendance to promote a shared vision for the Maidstone community.
Maidstone MP Helen Grant said “It was wonderful to meet Archbishop Justin again, and for him to spend so much time here in Maidstone during Holy Week, as we approach Easter. We live in difficult times and his words reinforced the belief that there is a way through these challenges for us, if we collaborate, if we work in partnership, if we embrace innovation and if we engage with our local businesses in the overall mission. We must work better and work differently”.
The event was a part of a week of activity undertaken by the Archbishop in and around Maidstone.
