It is difficult to adequately express my reflections on a year gone by, such as the one we have all just endured in 2021. The loss of so many lives, the grounding of so many businesses and then the cavalry charge of an amazing vaccine success and the unswerving dedication of all of those who are our NHS. I have also treasured the uplifting experience of working alongside so many in the community who turned their time and resources toward helping overcome the pandemic.
I am pleased to be running face to face constituency surgeries again and many local campaigns and engagements have been ongoing, notwithstanding the constraints of Covid-19. Our campaign to save the High Weald Academy, securing local access to vaccines and GPs, pushing for improved commuter rail services, supporting our farmers, fighting for a fairer approach to new housing numbers, dealing with antisocial behaviour, and much more.
Being able to enjoy Yalding’s Yuletide Market once again this month was a welcome reminder of how Christmas should be, shining a light on the value of strong local communities. I pay credit to my team of staff; Katy, Caroline, Ben, Vanda and Simon, all of whom have gone beyond the call of duty to support me and the thousands of constituents whom we have the privilege to serve.
To all my constituents, I hope you enjoy a happy Christmas and that 2022 brings you health and prosperity.
