Tottenham Hotspur Legends met Waitrose 270 FC at the Gallagher stadium on Sunday 30th June, watched by local MP Helen Grant and Mayor Marion Ring.
The match was in aid of two local charities - Mencap Maidstone and Space 2 Be Me, and was sponsored by local Solicitors Gullands.
The attendance was excellent with a packed stadium and volunteers and supporters of both charities alongside happy spectators on a glorious sunny day.
Local MP Helen Grant, who has also recently been appointed President of Maidstone Mencap said ‘It’s so great to see local business and charities working together for the good of the community and having great fun in the process. I take my hat off to match sponsors Gullands Solicitors who do so much for Maidstone, to the team from the Waitrose distribution centre in Aylesford and their Simon Barker for organising the event, and the Spurs Legends for giving their valuable time and energy. It was a cracking match with lots of goals – hugely entertaining. I was also delighted to be asked to present the medals, alongside our hard-working Mayor, on a day that produced significant, much needed funds for two excellent local charities.
