Commenting on the impending roll out of Universal Credit across Maidstone and the Weald, Helen Grant MP said,
'Universal Credit is a major reform that will transform the welfare state in Britain for the better. It simplifies the existing system by combining six previous benefits into one payment and provides bespoke, personalised support to help people into work.
I am however acutely aware that we must do everything we can to ensure it is rolled out in the fairest way possible. I am pleased that the Government has, this week, made more money available to support the transition onto Universal Credit and I will be working very closely with the Department for Work and Pensions and the teams at Maidstone and Tonbridge Job Centres in the coming weeks and months to support the smooth implementation of the new benefit across Maidstone and the Weald.
I would encourage any of my constituents who do not believe they are accessing the welfare support to which they are entitled to get in touch, I stand ready to help you in any way that I can.'
