MP thanks postmen & women for their hard work at Christmas

Helen Grant, MP for Maidstone and the Weald, visited Royal Mail's Maidstone delivery office on Friday. She wanted to see for herself the massive operation undertaken there at Christmas and pay tribute to the staff for their care and hard work.

Speaking after her visit, Helen said:

"The enormous efforts of our posties and temporary staff at Christmas is astonishing. They handle tens of thousands of envelopes and parcels daily as the Christmas crescendo develops towards the last posting dates.

"I was blown away by the volume and the huge 24 hour operation it takes to ensure the people of Maidstone receive their cards and gifts in time for Christmas. All the while the team go about their work in a fun and festive manner. Thank you for all your hard work!"
