As a specialist sports college the Academy recognises the power of sport to transform learning and raise self-esteem. The sports leadership programme allows all students to develop their self-confidence by working with partner primary schools.

Commenting on the official opening Helen said:

"It was a real honour to be asked to formally open High Weald Academy's new Sports Hall.

"I opened the Academy back in 2012 and it's fantastic to see the school - now a specialist sports college – going from strength to strength with such superb new facilities.

"I spoke about the power of sport and its ability transform lives and raise self-esteem. As UK Minister for Sport it's brilliant to see High Weald Academy championing physical activity and exercise in this way and great to see the all the students so engaged and able to make use these of top-notch facilities"
