Helen Visits The Blackthorn Trust

Helen Grant MP, the Member of Parliament for Maidstone and The Weald, visited the Blackthorn Trust on Friday, and was given a tour by its Chief Executive, Jan Prior.

The Blackthorn Trust was founded in 1986 and provides a supportive environment for people suffering from long-term mental and physical illness, helping them to learn new skills, recover their confidence, and build new relationships, with activities such as: arts and crafts, baking, gardening, and a vegetarian cafe. Products are then sold to the local community, with the money raised funding the Trust's future work.

Helen said: "I really enjoyed visiting the Blackthorn Trust today and seeing the wonderful work that they do to assist those recovering from illness. The garden is so tranquil and a perfect atmosphere for people to build their confidence and prepare for the world outside".

Jan Prior said: "It was a real pleasure to welcome Helen to Blackthorn and for her to see it in action and meet those who benefit from what we offer".
