Helen Celebrates Maidstone's Unsung Heroes

Helen Grant MP, the Member of Parliament for Maidstone and the Weald, attended an event on Friday to celebrate some of Maidstone's unsung heroes.

The second annual 'Celebrate Maidstone' Gala Dinner was held at the Mercure Hotel in Hollingbourne, Maidstone. Its aim was to reward local unsung heroes for their service, dedication and work for the local community. Helen presented Annabelle Jane with an award for 'Outstanding Contribution to the Community' in the Business Category. Other winners included Trevor Phipps, the Head Teacher of Bower Grove School, who won the 'Lifetime Achievement Award' for his twenty-three years of dedicated service as a local head teacher.

'Celebrate Maidstone' was initially set up in 2012 by a group of volunteers whose aim was to showcase Maidstone's local champions.

Helen said: "I was delighted that I was able to celebrate the wonderful work that people do in Maidstone all year round and it is both humbling and uplifting to see the differences that they make to the lives of others. My husband, Simon, and I very much enjoyed the event and meeting some of our local heroes. I offer my full support to the members of Maidstone's Jubilee Church, who created and promoted this excellent initiative".
